Supporting care home staff to look after their wellbeing during a pandemic: the My Wellbeing training programme
The HIN partnered with training provider Hayat Consultancy to run a pilot online training course for care home staff in south London to improve mental wellbeing. This was intended to support care home staff who were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
ioniTOUCH antimicrobial keyboards & mice: A cost effective tool for Infection Control
Health Innovation Manchester has supported Diamond Electronics in understanding the NHS landscape, validate the need for the product and brokered introductions for gathering feedback. The ioniTOUCH keyboards have been presented and attracted interest from NHS procurement specialists, infection control, Laboratory and Informatics teams in the region. It was clear that the challenges faced by infection control teams regarding transmission of bacteria through frequently touched surfaces was incredibly important, and keyboards are considered a high risk, if not cleaned properly. Support has led us to enter a procurement framework and will enable us to gather more real-world feedback the keyboards have been placed in locations around Manchester. So far the response has been incredibly positive, keyboards being received well by users, especially in theatres and treatment rooms and we have received orders from clinical research laboratories and Dentists across the UK.

Hospital Portering Task Management Solution - Myporter
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust Hospital's existing task tracking system for its Portering Department had begun to experience failures, and as an older system it no longer received full technical support. Jobs were mostly created by wards and departments and sent to porter pagers. There was no real time visibility on the location of porters, or activity and could start impacting on patient experience. Many wards were finding it impossible to use the system; reverting to manual management which resulted in delays to patient and item movements and its reporting system was difficult to use.
