The Asthma UK and British Lung Foundation Partnership has launched a £250k funding competition for the planning and design of a trial to answer the research question:
Can data generated from smart inhalers be used to reduce emergency healthcare use in adults with mild-moderate asthma as part of UK routine asthma care?
Please find more details of the call here.
Building on two of the top research priorities for asthma (optimising supported self-management and understanding asthma sub-groups), the intent of this award is to fund the development phase of a larger Programme Grant that will support the trial of this new tech-enabled pathway in the NHS.
The aim is to de-risk future investment by enabling more detailed exploration of what is still a very new area by experts in this field.
